Smith's The Man At Pittsburgh

Harry Smith, of Baltimore won 13 of his 16 games in the finals to win the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) $23,500 Pittsburgh Open by 360 pins over runnerup Billy Hardwick.

Smith qualified in the No. 8 spot over the 24-game qualifying route before turning on "The Tiger" to easily outdistance the rest of the field.

Glenn Allison, of Los Angeles won the qualifying cup by shooting 5268 for 24 games. But Allison tailed off in the match game finals, winning eight and losing eight, to wind up seventh.

This was Smith's sixth PBA tournament championship.
