Dave D'Entremont became a champion in his seventh TV final appearance, which unquestionably is his lucky number after capturing the $125,000 Fresno Open at Cedar Lanes. D'Entremont, Parma, Ohio, defeated leading qualifier Marc McDowell, Madison, Wis., 258-195, for the $18,000 first prize and qualification into the Firestone Tournament of Champions. D'Entremont started the championship game with six strikes, while PBA President Marc McDowell faced a pocket 7-10 in the opening frame, and now stands 0-4 in games as the leading qualifier. In the opening game of the ABC Sports televised finals, George Branham III defeated first-time finalist Bob Spaulding, Harrisburg, Pa., 229-217.
