Many X's For Ozio In AC-Delco

David Ozio opened the title game with seven consecutive strikes and came home with his seventh PBA championship in the $175,000 AC-Delco Classic at Gable House Bowl. Leading qualifier Ozio, Vidor, Texas, turned back second-seeded Walter Ray Williams Jr., 259-225, for the $36,000 first prize in the inaugural tournament of the 1991 PBA schedule.

It was another frustrating runnerup finish for Williams, Stockton, Calif., who continued without a title in his last 18 championship round appearances. He earned $19,000 for his 11th second-place finish.

In the opening game for ABC Sports' first broadcast of its 30th consecutive season of the popular "Professional Bowlers Tour" series, PBA President Marc McDowell topped Harry Sullins of Detroit, 226-196. PBA career earnings leader Marshall Holman then entered and defeated McDowell, Madison, Wis., 256-217. In the semifinal game, Williams sent Holman to the sidelines, 244-199, as both players were seeking their first title in more than three years on tour.
