Leading qualifier Parker Bohn III turned back fifth-seeded Hugh Miller, 247-236, to win the $200,000 Quality Inns International Summer Classic at Boulevard Bowl. Bohn, Freehold, N.J., earned his fourth PBA championship and the first prize of $38,000. Additionally, he collected an expenses-paid week's trip for two to the new Clarion Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. Miller, Seattle, entered the title game following three convincing dismissals of higher-seeded opponents. Bohn opened with a three-bagger, while Miller spared the 3-9-10 leave in his first frame and came back with a five-bagger. Bohn then came from behind to take the lead in the seventh frame and a critical ninth-frame strike guaranteed his spare, strike finish would lock out Miller. In the opening game, Miller defeated Dave Ferraro, Kingston, N.Y., 246-196. He then picked up momentum against Robert Lawrence of Austin, Texas, 256-193. In the semifinal game, Miller continued to dominate, this time against fellow left-hander Scott Devers, Richmond, Ind., 227-211.
