Danny Wiseman's record in championship round action remained perfect after capturing his second PBA title in as many appearances at the $145,000 Kessler Classic. Wiseman, Baltimore, Md., upended leading qualifier Ron Palombi Jr., Erie, Pa., 221-210, for the $24,000 first prize at Active West Town Square Lanes. Barely surviving a roll-off In the semifinal game to earn his berth against Palombi, the 22-year-old Wiseman started the championship game with a four-bagger. Palombi spared twice, doubled and then opened after missing the 3-10 "baby split" in his fifth frame. Palombi came back with a triple and tightened the match to the point where he stepped up in the 10th frame needing a double and eight-count to clinch his fifth PBA title. Warren Nelson, Fresno, Calif., opened the finals with a strike, then struggled through two games, defeating Wayne Webb, Beaumont, Texas, 193-178. Nelson breathed easier in disposing Randy Pedersen, Santa Maria, Calif., 210-184, but his good fortune ended, 39-37, In a two-frame roll-off with Wiseman after both had tied at 200.
