Rested from a two-week trip home to Venezuela, Amleto Monacelli returned In top form and captured the $125,000 Columbus Professional Bowling Classic. Monacelli led the field by 285 pins entering the championship round and came from 20 pins down to top Dallas' Chris Warren, 232-222, at host Columbus Square Bowling Palace for his seventh PBA crown. Warren began with a triple while Monacelli opened in his first and fifth frames before stringing a six-bagger. Warren needed a strike and nine-count to collect his second title In seven weeks but left the 6-10 on his first shot of his 10th frame. In the opening game, fifth-seeded Warren bounced Mark Williams, Beaumont, Texas, 202-186, and then defeated Don Moser, San Jose, Calif., 201-172. In the semifinal game, Warren ousted second-seeded Tony Marrese, Hilton Head, S.C., to gain his place against Monacelli In the finale.
